Farewell to Ma7mud ElGohary

A Friend and a Brother Passed Away!
I have a variety of friends who are so different in character; each can bring out a "different" part of me.
I joke with one friend, but with another I am reserved.
I sit down and talk about serious matters with one.
With another I laugh a lot and I may have a coffee or a drink with one.
I listen to one friend's problems. Then, I listen to another one's advice.
We all pray together and for each other.
My friends are all like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle.
When completed, they form a treasure box. A treasure of friends!
But only one of them was a “Complete Friend and Brother.”
He was the friend who understood me better than myself, who supported me through good days and bad days, and so I did him too.
He is Ma7mud ElGohary,
Who was a loving husband, father and grandparent of a wonderful family.
As a player, he was an unstoppable team-player who was ahead of his times. He pioneered modern football in Egypt and the region.
He was a leader of men who excelled as a professional officer when he commanded the Second Army Communications and as a coach when he led his club and National Squads from one victory to another.
He was my “True Friend” and remains until we meet again!
Hale to His Majesty King Abdullah and HRH Prince Ali and the Jordanian People who recognized his excellence and honored his memory.
Shame to those Egyptians who denied him a Military Funeral befitting a Decorated National Hero who served his country well!
Medhat Bakri
